BB is a german speaking Namibian-born proudly South African adhoc singer/songwriter who writes and composes songs in English and Afrikaans as well as German mainly about issues relating to women and being female. “My purpose is always to communicate a good, strong and inspiring message with lyrics and sound and my wish is that my work will be more than mere entertainment but inspirational and motivational as well.”
She recently translated and recorded one of her all-time favourite Afrikaans songs into English. Koos Kombuis (the original writer of “Lisa se Klavier”) said of BB’s version that it was so beautiful that when he first heard it whilst driving in his car he lost his way on a road that he took every day.
BB’s motto is “The grass is always greener where you water it”.
She has an uncanny ability to deliver lyrics and songs at the drop of a hat. She writes and composes personalized songs for weddings, birthdays and special occasions. She calls all her songs her babies and regards the process from start to finish with the same awe than expectant mothers’ do the arrival of their newborns.
In 2006 two of her original songs were entered in an international songwriter’s contest at which one received honourable mention and the other was crowned runner-up.
She is a 9 to 5 working girl – a trained systems analyst programmer and knows all about budgeting, bills, breakfast in rush hour traffic and a full working day. Her me-time is spent writing, writing and writing once more. It is her favourite way of ridding tension, weaving dreams and facing the world.
BB modestly recognises her talent as “not of my own making” and insists that “it would be a sin not to reach out and grab it when a song passes you by. A song comes in many forms. A child. The wind. A stranger’s eyes. Sunlight, shadows, night, winter, summer. Yes, and love, of course”.
Many of her songs are inspired by other’s people’s joys, hurts and heartaches. She has a passion for giving the gift of words, wrapped into a few notes and delivering it with a sincere voice which will leave you thinking: “I could have written that”.
BB has 4 children – not all biological, nonetheless all on loan from God. She says she lives a planned life – not by her own standards, but believes that as long as she prays and stays in the will of God she will be in the right place at the right time - Always.
